About Glenda’s Gift

Glenda’s Gift is a memorial fund to continue Glenda’s legacy of giving the amazing gifts she shared with everyone she met: unconditional love, compassion, and joy.

There are two components to Glenda’s Gift: Random Acts of Kindness and the Glenda R. Reardon Student Assistance Fund, University at Buffalo for dietetic interns. Donors can chose which fund they would like to contribute to or may contribute to both funds.

Random Acts of Kindness

Glenda’s Gift will be used to help people in need, in various circumstances.  From this fund, financial support will be given to each individual/family in need that reaches out to Glenda’s Gift or to an individual/family that is identified by Glenda’s family.

Just a few examples of how these funds could be used include:

>For families who are struggling financially: with gas or food, helping to make a necessary home repair, purchasing a musical instrument for their child, helping with medical expenses, etc.

>For people who are hurting: Brightening the day of grieving family or child, a terminally ill person, disabled, etc.

>For a community purpose:  A school, church, or non-profit in need of books, supplies, or furniture to better serve the community, helping an elderly person, making meals for families in need, etc.

There are unlimited possibilities of how Glenda’s Gift can help those in need. If you have a suggestion, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Glenda R. Reardon Student Assistance Fund, University at Buffalo

Glenda was a Dietetic Intern preceptor for the University at Buffalo for many years.  She was a registered dietitian and worked for 29 years at the Niagara County Office for the Aging.  She was well-known for her compassion and love of helping senior citizens.  She was also very active in the dietetics profession, serving as past president of the WNY Dietetic Association, NYS Aging Services Dietitians, NYS Association of Nutrition & Aging Programs, Meals-on-Wheels of America, and many more.  Glenda and her husband, John, had a wonderful relationship with the University at Buffalo Dietetic Intern (DI) program, especially the students. They helped countless students as they began their challenging and rewarding journey into the dietetic profession. She lived graciously and courageously, inspiring and teaching countless friends, loved ones and students.

In the spring of 2015, John and his family established the Glenda R. Reardon Student Assistance Fund in order to support two University at Buffalo dietetic students annually. The fund will be used to pay for the cost of the two dietetic students’  prep course for their exam. The fund will also be used to provide funding for ancillary expenses such as travel, room and board, and miscellaneous expenses. Prospective students will apply for funding directly through the Dietetic Internship with Nutrition program.  The Dietetic Internship, Clinical Director or the Dietetic Internship Program Director will determine who will receive the funding based on need, merit and availability. Through her family, Glenda will continue to touch the lives of DI students and the communities they serve for many years to come.
